INTRICT ONE.

Back in my high school days, I really enjoyed our Computer class because our teacher taught his subject in a very fun and interesting manner. I have learned a lot from him and also had fun at the same time. It’s just funny because that high school teacher of ours is also a big fan of Google and its features just like Mr. Oliver Malabanan, our very fun and knowledgeable professor in INTRICT. Never did I imagine that it would be the same in college. :p

From the moment Sir Oli started his lecture, the whole block of S22 were amazed at what Google can do through its apps like Gmail, Gtalk, Calendar, Documents, and more. As an ICTM student, I believe that such an advance in technology will help me maximize my work because it increases my productivity. Like, for example, in the usage of the “Documents” feature of Google where two or more people can work on one document at the same time even if they are at the opposite ends of the world. haha.. Isn’t it cool? All they need is a computer and an internet connection and it saves them all their time and effort. Also, I find the Google calendar very helpful, especially when they text people for reminders in their schedule. It’s like combining the two popular technologies of today, which are cell phones and the internet, into a single application.

Aside from Google, Yahoo is also there to help students like me in our activities, though they do not have everything that Google offers. They have their mailing and messenger services which has been a great help to me personally. Ever since I started to learn how to use the computer, I have been using Yahoo Mail to send emails to the people I know. I also use their messenger service to contact friends from school whenever I have problems or questions regarding school work or if I simply want to chat with them for entertainment purposes.

For me, productivity means doing one’s work with efficiency. That means saving plenty of time and having a great deal of work done at the same time. Long before, when machines were not yet introduced in the industry, people worked manually which took them a lot of time to get their job done. But now, people already benefit from technology because it makes their life easier and it helps them do their work faster. For example, people before use pen and paper and their minds in doing their calculations, but now they have what we call “Microsoft Excel” to help them do their calculations needed for their jobs. It saved them their time and resources. Technology has indeed made people more productive and efficient in doing their work.

Though both of my parents are the “not-too-busy-and-techie” types of people, I can suggest them to use the Google calendar because of its texting feature so that they will be reminded of their schedules beforehand. Also, it can help them keep track of their activities and the events that they will go to.
